Kannappa, the multi-starrer fantasy drama starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead, has finally opened in theatres on June 27. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film features prominent stars like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal and Mohanlal in extended cameos.

The film is based on a mythological tale of a staunch Lord Shiva devotee. Vishnu Manchu’s father Mohan Babu, who plays a major role in Kannappa, is also the producer for the film, in association with 24 Frames Factory. The film also boasts of international technicians like Sheldon Chau, who helms the cinematography and Kecha Khamphakdee who has choreographed the stunts and war sequences.

The Kannappa team met Uttar Pradesh CM in April, felicitated him with a Ramesh Gorijala oil painting of Kannappa, while CM Yogi presented the entire Kannappa team with religious figurines as a souvenir.

The trailer gave extended glimpses of Prabhas' and Akshay Kumar's roles in the film, besides establishing the core premise of the film that centres around the trials and tribulations of a staunch Shiva Bhakt

Stephen Devassy is the music composer for the fantasy drama, while lyrics are penned by Ramajogayya Sastry and Sreemani among others

Mohanlal plays the role of a fierce warrior named Kirata in the Vishnu Manchu starrer.

Kannappa was initially scheduled for a release in April, before the makers decided to postpone the release
