We had recently reported that the makers of Kannappa decided to postpone their film’s release, owing to extensive VFX work. On Wednesday, the primary team of Kannappa — Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu and Prabhu Deva — met with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, who launched the announcement poster for the film's new release date. Kannappa is now slated for a theatrical release on June 27.
During the meeting, the Kannappa team apprised CM Yogi about their film, which is based on the mythological story of a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. While the team felicitated the chief minister with a Ramesh Gorijala oil painting of Kannappa, CM Yogi presented the entire Kannappa team with religious figurines as a souvenir.
While Vishnu Manchu plays the titular role in Kannappa, Prabhu Deva has worked on the film as a choreographer. Mohan Babu, Vishnu’s father, serves as the producer. Besides Vishnu, Kannappa also features Shivarajkumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, and Madhoo in the ensemble cast. Additionally, the film also boasts of extended cameos from several big stars like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas and Mohanlal.
