
Kannappa, the fantasy-drama starring Vishnu Manchu in the lead, is slated for a theatrical release on June 27. On Saturday, the makers released the official trailer of their film.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is based on the mythological story of a staunch Lord Shiva devotee who must protect the much revered Vayu Linga from evil forces and face many obstacles including banishment from his village before his piety is validated by Lord Shiva himself. While Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva, Prabhas will be seen as Rudra, a mysterious force putting Kannappa's devotion to many tests to bring the best out of him.
Besides playing the lead role, Vishnu Manchu is also the scriptwriter for the film thatâs produced by his father Mohan Babu in association with 24 Frames Factory. Mohan Babu also plays a significant role in the film.
Kannappa additionally stars Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal in extended cameos, besides featuring prominent names like Madhoo, Preity Mukundhan, Brahmaji, Mukesh Rishi, and Surekha Vani in the ensemble cast.
Stephen Devassy is the music composer for the film. The film also boasts of international technicians like Sheldon Chau, who helms the cinematography and Kecha Khamphakdee who has choreographed the stunts and war sequences. Anthony Gonsalvez is the editor.
Kannappa is the only big Telugu release on June 27.
