Cinema Express Desk

Recently, we reported that actor Soori has joined hands with Ayalaan-fame director Ravikumar for his next, tentatively titled Soori 07. Now, reports suggest that Mamitha Baiju has been approached by the makers of the film to play the female lead. If the reports are true, the actor is yet to confirm her availability for the film. An official confirmation from the film's team is awaited.

Soori made his lead debut with Vetrimaaran's two-part Viduthalai films. He then starred in RS Durai Senthilkumar's Garudan and PS Vinothraj's Kottukkaali. After Maaman, he is currently busy with Mandaadi, directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, a stunt-heavy film set in coastal Tamil Nadu against the backdrop of a sporting event peculiar to the southern coastal areas of the state. Mandaadi, produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, will also get a Telugu release.

Soori 07 will also be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. It is backed by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers. It marks the production house's third Tamil film after Good Bad Ugly and Dude.

Meanwhile, Mamitha Baiju was last seen in Dude alongside Pradeep Ranganathan in Tamil. While her Jana Nayagan, with Vijay, was set to hit theatres on January 9, the film is currently postponed indefinitely amidst a censorship issue. Her next is Kara, the Vignesh Raja directorial lead by Dhanush, which is scheduled for April 30. She then has Vishwanath & Sons, co-starring Suriya, which is slated for July. In the pipeline, she has Irandu Vaanam with Vishnu Vishal and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit in Malayalam with Nivin Pauly.
