Actor Kamal Haasan, who was last seen in Thug Life, is currently committed to three outings, namely, KH 237, KHxRK reunion and the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Of the lot, KH 237 is said to be facing delays.
The yet-to-be-titled film, backed by Raaj Kamal Films International, is being directed by stunt choreographer duo Anbariv (Anbumani and Arivumani) and will mark their directorial debut. The project is expected to be a science fiction film with an artificial intelligence (AI)-based premise.
As part of the film's pre-production, Kamal Haasan had travelled to the United States along with members of the core team. During his stay, he also reportedly attended a course related to artificial intelligence. Despite expectations that the project would go on floors last year, production has yet to begin. Earlier reports suggested that the schedule was pushed due to the elections and other factors.
According to the latest reports, the primary reason for the continued delay is the extensive CGI and AI-driven sequences planned for the film. Since a significant amount of computer-generated visual work is required, the pre-visualisation and CGI pipeline is reportedly taking longer than expected, delaying the start of principal photography.
Previously, reports suggested that Kalyani Priyadarshan has also been cast in the film. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm the same.
The film has cinematography by Sunil K, known for his work on Aadujeevitham. Music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, whose onboarding came after the release of his work in Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. The technical crew also includes editor Shameer Muhammed, production designer Vinesh Banglan (known for Lucky Baskhar), while acclaimed Malayalam screenwriter Shyam Pushkaran has penned the script.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is currently occupied with his responsibilities as a Rajya Sabha MP. On the film front, he is backing two films under his home banner, namely Sivakarthikeyan's Seyon from Sivakumar Murugesan and Dharman, helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu, which marks his reunion with Rajinikanth.
