The trailer for Vijay's Jana Nayagan was unveiled on January 3, in the evening. Nearly 24 hours later, the trailer for Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi was unveiled. With the former having more anticipation, as it is Vijay's swansong, the film's trailer was expected to receive maximum views. However, Parasakthi's trailer stands at 42 million views, while Jana Nayagan's stands at 40 million.

Following this takeover by Parasakthi's trailer, netizens have begun questioning the authenticity of the former's views. Some fans online have also asked whether the views were brought about by bots. While Jana Nayagan's trailer has received 1.3 million likes and 90,000 comments, Parasakthi's received only nearly 5 lakh likes and about 20,000 comments. This has further fuelled speculations about the authenticity of the views.

Jana Nayagan, helmed by H Vinoth, also stars Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Narain, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, among others. It marks Vijay's last film before he transitions fully into politics. The film is also rumoured to be a remake of Anil Ravipudi’s 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, starring Balakrishna.

Meanwhile, Parasakthi is helmed by Sudha Kongara and stars Sreeleela, Atharvaa and Ravi Mohan, alongside Sivakarthikeyan. Based on the anti-Hindi agitation, the film reportedly also stars Rana Daggubati in a cameo role.

While Jana Nayagan is slated for January 9, Parasakthi is scheduled for January 10. But with the censor formalities for the former still incomplete, the film's release may be postponed.
