Director Sudha Kongara, who is busy working on her upcoming much-anticipated film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela and Ravi Mohan in lead roles, revealed an update on the movie's progress. Speaking to reporters at a recent event, she said that there are 40 more days of shooting left to complete the project. The director also underlined that they have not locked a release date for Parasakthi, dismissing speculations that the film might clash with Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
"I alone can't decide the release date. Producers and other stake holders involved will take a decision on it also. Media has speculated that these two films will clash while we haven't announced anything yet," Sudha said. The team is currently awaiting Sivakarthikeyan's arrival from Columbo where he is currently shooting for AR Murugadoss' Madharasi, to shoot the rest of Parasakthi's portions.
Parasakthi's teaser, which was released earlier this year, hinted at a film that revolves around student politics in old Madras. Sreeleela and Atharvaa play characters in the film's period portions. On the other hand, Ravi Mohan seems to portray a role with an old score to settle with Sivakarthikeyan's character.
However, what caught the attention of curious netizens were a BTS stills that indicated that the film might be based on Hindi imposition in Tamil Nadu, a topic that continues to create controversies till date. A recent poster also shows Siavkarthikeyan throwing a sheet of paper that says 'Thamizh thee paravattum' (May the fire of Tamil spread). Responding to these, the Soorarai Pottru filmmaker said, "They have discussed this a lot in media and I have not said anything about it. Essentially, the film is about a tale of brothers."
The technical team of Parasakthi includes composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, editor Sathish Suriya, and action choreographer Supreme Sundar. Ganeshaa is credited for additional screenplay for Parasakthi, while Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy are credited as additional dialogue writers. The film is produced by Aakash Baskaran under the banner Dawn Pictures. The makers are yet to announce a release date for the film.
Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan, Vijay's last film, directed by H Vinoth, is currently in the last leg of filming. The film's ensemble cast includes Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and Narain, alongside Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and Teejay Arunasalam.
