As actor-politician Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, is set for a theatrical release on January 9, the makers revealed the trailer on Saturday. Celebrities and fans have been wishing the actor and the crew following the trailer's unveiling.

Accordingly, actor Rishab Shetty, who struck gold with Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 last year, took to his X handle to share a glimpse of the trailer and wish the team of Jana Nayagan. Praising Jana Nayagan trailer as "on fire," he wished Vijay, director H Vinoth, composer Anirudh, and producer Venkat K Narayana (KVN Productions) "all the best and a massive success".

The trailer released a couple of days ago, carrying the semblance of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Bhagavanth Kesari, portrays Vijay as an upright police officer, Thalapathy Vetri Kondan (initials of his political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam), pursuing his foster child (Mamitha Baiju), who is affected by panic attacks, to enlist herself in the army. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol plays an industrialist who plans to take over India and comes face-to-face with Thalapathy.

Though the trailer further fuels speculations of the remake of Anil Ravipudi's 2023 film, what could differentiate Jana Nayagan is that the protagonist is unaware of why his foster child is affected by anxiety. There is also a suggestion of a humanoid robot takeover that Thalapathy is resisting.

The film, marking the first collaboration between Vijay and H Vinoth, is the actor’s last film before his political plunge in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu elections.

Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain. The film reunites Vijay with Prakash Raj after Varisu, Pooja after Beast, and Gautham Vasudev Menon after Leo.

On the technical side, the film has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, action choreography by Anl Arasu, and art direction by Selva Kumar.

The film is simultaneously releasing in Hindi (Jan Neta) and Telugu (Jana Nayakudu).
