As the first show of Karuppu came to an end at Chennai's Rohini theatres, videos of fans cheering for the film's director, RJ Balaji, and the director responding to the celebration have already started making the rounds on social media.

Also starring Trisha and RJ Balaji himself, Karuppu faced a slight setback after its release on May 14 was delayed due to financial issues. The film's eventual release on Friday has therefore rejuvenated Suriya fans all the more.

In the newly released video, RJ Balaji can be seen on the balcony of the theatre screen, having an emotional reaction, screaming and crying with happiness as audiences deliver their verdict of the film. The video comes a day after RJ Balaji addressed the audience through his social media, crying and apologising for the film's delay.

Earlier today, videos of RJ Balaji arriving at the theatre and being swarmed by Suriya fans were going viral. At the screen, he was seen addressing fans, saying, 'Let's have a great time. We’ve crossed all obstacles. Hope you like the film; the film is all yours now."

Karuppu did not release on Thursday because of unsettled dues from the production house's end, as multiple reports suggest. After the morning shows were cancelled, fans hoped for at least a matinee or an evening show for the film. As the issues were yet to be resolved, the makers waited till Friday to release the film. The film is backed by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner.

With Suriya playing the role of Saravanan (a reference to the actor's real name) and Trisha as Preethi, the cast of Karuppu also includes Natty Natraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Swasika, Sshivadha, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy, among others.

Sai Abhyankkar has composed music for Karuppu, his sophomore Tamil project, which features lyrics by Pa Vijay, Vivek, Vishnu Edavan, Asal Kolaar, Adesh Krishna, and Arun Srinivasan. The crew of the film includes cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, production designer Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreographers Anbariv and Vikram Mor. Aravendaraj Baskaran is serving as the executive producer on the film.
