With Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2 on track to release for June 12 this year, Rajinikanth has landed in Kerala's Kochi to complete his portions for the final schedule of the film.
Jailer 2, comes three years after Jailer, and will see the return of Rajinikanth as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Ramya Krishnan, who portrayed his wife's role in the first film. While the likes of Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff, who made cameo appearances in Jailer, are expected to return, Shivarajkumar has confirmed that he will come back for the sequel. Other big names like Shah Rukh Khan, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, and Mirnaa are also expected to be part of the sequel's cast.
Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Santhanam and Mithun Chakraborty have also confirmed being a part of the cast while Vijay Sethupathi had revealed that he will be playing a small role in the film. Additionally, Meghana Raj Sarja also confirmed that she is making her return to Tamil cinema with Jailer 2 in a key role. Malayalam actor Anna Raajan, best known for her breakthrough role in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Angamaly Diaries (2017), is also part of the cast.
There is also buzz about the appearance of Nora Fatehi in a dance number, Just like the hit first film, the makers of the film are bringing together stars from multiple industries for a pan-Indian appeal for the sequel. Plot details of the film are currently under wraps.
Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner. The Jailer sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, a no-nonsense police officer turned family man with a propensity for violence. On the technical front, the film has music by Anirudh. Reportedly, the first film's technical team members such as cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal are also coming back for the sequel.
