Kannada actor Shivarajkumar is currently gearing up for the release of 45, helmed by Arjun Janya and co-starring Raj B Shetty and Upendra. During an interview with Gobinath for Behindwoods, ahead of the film's release, the actor revealed details about his work in Rajinikanth's Jailer sequel, Jailer 2.
Shivarajkumar revealed that he is set to commence filming for Jailer 2 this week and that he also has a few dates in the second week of January 2026. "Jailer 2 will somewhat continue from where the 2023 film left off. I have a longer cameo appearance in the sequel," he revealed. Further, when asked why no Tamil actors are seen making such cameos in Kannada cinema, he added, "You'll soon see such a cameo in Kannada cinema."
Helmed by Nelson, Jailer 2, which comes three years after Jailer, will see the return of Rajinikanth as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Ramya Krishnan, who portrayed his wife's role in the first film. While the likes of Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff, who made cameo appearances in Jailer, are expected to return, some other big names like Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, and Mithun Chakraborty are also rumoured to be part of the sequel's cast.
Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Santhanam recently confirmed being a part of the cast. Additionally, Meghana Raj Sarja also confirmed that she is making her return to Tamil cinema with Jailer 2 in a key role. Malayalam actor Anna Raajan, best known for her breakthrough role in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Angamaly Diaries (2017), is also part of the cast.
Backed by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 will have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R Nirmal. Jailer 2 is slated for a release in theatres worldwide on June 12, 2026.
45, which marks Arjun Janya's directorial debut, is set to open in theatres for Christmas on December 25. The film also stars Rajendran, Kaustubha Mani, Jisshu Sengupta, and Pooja Ramachandran, among others.
