The star cast of Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2 keeps getting bigger, with Vijay Sethupathi being the latest to confirm his involvement in the film in a small role. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay said that he played a cameo in the film because of his admiration for Rajinikanth. "To be with him, I get to learn a lot. There is so much to learn from a superstar who has survived in this industry for so many decades," Vijay said about Rajinikanth. The film reunites Vijay with Rajinikanth after 2019's Petta.
Earlier, we reported about Yogi Babu, Vinayakan and Suraj Venjaramoodu confirming their roles in the film. Meghana Raj Sarja, Shivarajkumar, and SJ Suryah have also reportedly joined the film's cast. Mohanlal is rumoured to be part of it. There is also buzz about the appearance of Nora Fatehi in a dance number, Mithun Chakraborty, Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, and Mirnaa in the film. Reports indicate that, just like 2023's Jailer, the makers of the film are bringing together stars from multiple industries for a pan-Indian appeal.
Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner. The Jailer sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, a no-nonsense police officer turned family man with a propensity for violence. On the technical front, the film has music by Anirudh. Reportedly, the first film's technical team members such as cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal are also coming back for the sequel.
Production on the film is still underway. Recently, the makers revealed that it would hit theatres on June 12 this year.
