On Wednesday, the makers of Silambarasan's upcoming film, Arasan, unveiled a video of music composer Anirudh Ravichander's surprise visit to the film's sets. Arasan is written and directed by Vetri Maaran and stars Silambarasan TR as the titular character.
In a video glimpse, Anirudh can be seen arriving at the film's set to be welcomed by the film's cinematographer Velraj and director Vetri Maaran. Then, as their conversation becomes intense, they're joined by Silambarasan and the film's producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, who is backing it under his V Creations banner.
This update from the film's end comes just weeks after the producer announced that the film's shoot has resumed. The film also features Vijay Sethupathi and Yogalakshmi in prominent roles. The film was announced in September 2025 and went on floors in December 2025.
In supporting roles, the film will feature Yogi Babu and Jibin Gopinath, with Samuthirakani and Andreah Jeremiah reprising their roles from Vada Chennai (2018). The film marks Anirudh's first collaboration with Vetri Maaran.
A shot glimpse from the film was released in October 2025, featuring Anirudh's music, which was later released as the theme for the film. The same music has been used for this recent video. DOP Velraj has previously worked with Vetri Maaran on films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran, among others.
Arasan is described as "an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai". While it was initially slated for release this Diwali, the film's production seems to be getting a little prolonged, provoking speculations about the film's release being pushed to summer 2027. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm the same.
