Arasan's producer Kalaippuli S Thanu took to social media to announce that the film has resumed production. Arasan is written and directed by Vetri Maaran, and stars Silambarasan TR as the titular character.
Sharing a photo from behind the scenes of the film, the producer simplay captioned the post by writing, "Arasan Back in Action." The producer is backing the film under V Creations banner. The film was announced in September 2025 and went on floors in December 2025.
The cast of the film also includes Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu, Yogalakshmi, and Jibin Gopinath, with Samuthirakani and Andreah Jeremiah reprising their roles from Vada Chennai (2018).
Anirudh is composing music for Arasan, in his first collaboration with Vetri Maaran. A shot glimpse from the film was released in October 2025, featuring Anirudh's music, which was later released as the theme for the film.
Vetri Maaran's regular collaborator director-cinematographer R Velraj, known for making Velaiyilla Pattathaari (2014), is on board as Arasan's director of photography.
