Actor and producer Samantha Ruth Prabhu has teamed up with UN Women India for this year’s edition of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, running from November 25 to December 10. The 2025 campaign centres on the urgent theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,” highlighting the alarming rise of online harassment and technology-facilitated abuse.

With a massive social media presence of over 37 million followers and a celebrated body of work across Tamil and Telugu cinema as well as The Family Man, Samantha brings both influence and lived experience to the cause. In a newly released video message, she draws attention to the growing forms of harm women and girls face on digital platforms, including stalking, harassment, doxxing, deepfakes, and image manipulation.

Reflecting on her involvement, Samantha noted that the impact of online abuse is both personal and pervasive. “Violence no longer happens only in physical spaces; it follows us onto screens, silences our voices, and destroys reputations,” she said. She added that being a public figure has shown her how profoundly digital violence can shake a person’s sense of safety and confidence, especially when the targets are women.

Samantha emphasised the need for stronger systems and accountability, stating, “I am honoured to partner with UN Women India to demand platform accountability, strengthen legal protections, and remind everyone that behind every abusive comment or manipulated image is a real person whose dignity must be protected.”

Meanwhile, Samantha was last seen in a cameo in her debut production venture, Subham, which received critical acclaim upon its release. She is currently working on her sophomore production, Maa Inti Bangaram, which recently went on floors.

Samantha has been open about her recovery journey from myositis, an autoimmune condition that forced her to take a step back from acting in 2023. Over the past year, she has steadily eased back into work, first as a producer and now as an actor.
