Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s maiden film production, Subham, is all set for a theatrical release on May 9. The film is directed by Praveen Kandregula, known for Cinema Bandi. Ahead of the film's release, Samantha interacted with the media on Tuesday.

Talking about her decision to become a producer, Samantha stated, “During the break I took, I did a lot of thinking. I wasn’t sure if I’d return to films; that’s when the idea of producing came to me. I thought, ‘If I can’t act, I can still make films.’ After being in the industry for nearly 15 years, I felt it was the right time to start.” Talking about Subham’s concept, the actor shared, “The story revolves a lot around a TV serial, and in the show, everyone waits for the final 'Subham' card (the traditional end slide in TV serials). That’s why we chose that title. Most women are hooked on TV serials. This film isn’t just horror or comedy — it’s more of a social satire.”

Recalling her learnings as a producer, the actor said, “This is my first Friday as a producer, and I’m extremely nervous. As an actor, I never truly understood the producer’s hardships. I now realise how valuable every minute is on set. If even a single scene doesn’t go as planned, the losses can be huge. I’ve spent sleepless nights over the past week. My respect for all my teams — our post-production, mixing, and editing teams — has grown immensely.” Samantha also mentioned how she spent a lot of time in the edit room personally for Subham. “I’m my own toughest critic. I know exactly where I’ve gone wrong in a film. For Subham, I worked hard in the editing room to ensure the film had no dull moments. We made sure it flows smoothly,” she added.

Samantha is producing another project titled Maa Inti Bangaram, which will go back to shooting floors in June. She also mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Atlee on a project. “I share a great rapport with Atlee,” Samantha added.
