Mahavatar Narsimha shows no signs of slowing down. In just over two weeks since its release, the fully animated epic has raked in a staggering ₹210 crore globally, cementing its position as one of the year’s biggest box office successes.
Hombale Films, which presented the film, celebrated the milestone on Monday with a post that read: "210 CRORES+ worldwide gross & counting… #MahavatarNarsimha continues the glorious run, shattering records and winning the love of millions worldwide."
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film brings to life the legendary tale of Bhakt Prahlada and Lord Vishnu’s fierce fourth avatar, Narasimha. It follows Prahlada’s unshakeable devotion to Vishnu, which sparks the wrath of his father, the tyrant king Hiranyakashipu. Empowered with near-immortality by Lord Brahma, Hiranyakashipu attempts to destroy his son, until Narasimha appears in a divine half-man, half-lion form to protect his devotee and defeat the oppressor.
After debuting in India on July 25, the film widened its reach on July 31, releasing in markets such as Sri Lanka, Australia, Malaysia, and multiple European countries. Available in both 3D and multiple languages, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, the feature has been widely praised for its breathtaking animation and the powerful musical score by Sam CS. The screenplay is penned by Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh.
Backed by producers Shilpa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai under the Kleem Productions banner, Mahavatar Narsimha marks the first instalment of Hombale Films’ ambitious Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, a twelve-year plan running from 2025 to 2037 to chronicle all ten avatars of Lord Vishnu through a series of animated films.
