On Tuesday night, we reported about the tragic passing of veteran producer RB Choudhary following a car accident in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Since then, Tamil cinema and those from outside the industry have been mourning the loss of one of the titans in the field of filmmaking.
Reflecting on the filmmaker's tragic passing and his contributions to cinema, Kamal Haasan wrote, "The news of RB Choudhary, who stood as a pinnacle among South Indian film producers, departing from us in a road accident brings shock and sorrow. A courageous innovator who never hesitated to venture into new experiments in cinema; one who introduced many to the industry and provided turning points in the careers of many others, establishing them firmly; a sanctuary for young artists eager to succeed—his departure from us is an unbearable grief."
Kamal also conveyed his condolences to Choudhary's sons, actors Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh, "who are withering in the loss of their beloved father," and his other relatives. Notably, the filmmaker's sons also include producer Suresh and businessman Jeevan.
On the other hand, director Lingusamy reminisced about narrating a story to Choudhary, who produced films under his Super Good Films banner. Lingusamy wrote, "It all started with you, sir. I still remember every single word you told me after my first narration, the tears in your eyes meant everything to me. From that moment to our many conversations that followed, up until the last one where you kept talking about that “final film”… it’s been a journey I never wanted to end. I don’t know how I’m going to come to terms with this. I will truly miss you, sir."
Besides Tamil, Choudhary's banner produced films in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam as well. Actor Nani recalled his childhood days watching some of those films produced by the banner. "RB Choudhary gaaru and Super Good Films are a part of our childhood with many classics. I cannot forget the moments I spent with him during the days of Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu and the warmth he shared. Strength and condolences to the family. Farewell Sir," wrote Nani.
Actor Ravi Mohan expressed his deep sadness about the news of Choudhary's passing. "Your contribution to Indian cinema makes me want to be more learned about this field and do better. Gone too soon but rest assured you’ll live in our hearts forever," Ravi wrote.
Meanwhile, actor Vishal, whose film Magudam was being produced by Choudhary at the time of his death, expressed his shock at his passing. "Shocking to hear the news of the demise of the most prolific producer RB Choudhary sir. Unable to digest this news in the midst of shoot. In a Loss of words. Life is so uncertain. One of the biggest production houses in India. May his soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to Jiiva, Jithan Ramesh and Suresh and the entire family. May god give them strength to overcome this tragic loss," wrote Vishal.
At the same time, Silambarasan TR wrote, "Heartbroken to hear about RB Choudhary sir. A visionary producer and a guiding force for so many in our industry. His impact will always be remembered. My prayers with Jiiva, Jithan Ramesh and the entire family. Rest in peace."
