TG Vishwa Prasad: The Raja Saab was delayed due to VFX, not Prabhas’ schedule

Producer clears the air on the much-talked-about delay, calling it a result of behind-the-scenes technical trouble rather than on-set setbacks

After months of speculation surrounding the repeated postponements of The Raja Saab, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has finally shed light on what really went wrong. Contrary to popular belief that Prabhas’ packed schedule was to blame, Vishwa Prasad revealed that the delay stemmed from major issues in the visual effects (VFX) department not from shooting hurdles.

Speaking in a recent interview, the People Media Factory head explained that a senior VFX supervisor, who had been hired to handle the film’s extensive visual work, had failed to deliver results for months. “We were supposed to release the film in April 2025, but the supervisor didn’t do any of the work until October 2024,” he said, adding that the technician was “busy with other projects like Pushpa 2,” leaving The Raja Saab in limbo.

Vishwa Prasad further revealed that the situation escalated when the supervisor allegedly became “difficult to work with” and even threatened to quit when asked for progress. The producer didn’t name the individual but hinted that this same person was recently removed from SS Rajamouli’s upcoming project as well. “He was taking a monthly fee for his team but not delivering any output. Someday, I’ll show him what the fee is for his extortion,” Vishwa remarked, half in frustration and half in jest.

Although Vishwa Prasad didn’t reveal any name, based on the hint, netizens have decoded that the alleged VFX supervisor might be Kamal Kannan. To fix the problem, People Media Factory established a dedicated in-house VFX division, which has since worked on both Mirai and The Raja Saab

Directed by Maruthi and co-produced by IVY Entertainment, The Raja Saab is a horror comedy starring Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (marking her Telugu debut), and Riddhi Kumar. The film, which was once slated for April 2025, will now release worldwide on January 9 2026, coinciding with the Sankranti festival.
