Ever since Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) faced a resounding success in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu election results, wishes have been pouring in from the film fraternity for the actor-turned-politician for becoming the chief minister-elect of the state. The actor also won from the both the constituencies he contested in—Perambur and Tiruchi East.

Fellow politician and actor Khushbu Sundar congratulated him for his "spectacular win" and said that she is looking forward to see him lead as the Jana Nayagan, a nod to his unreleased film which has been stuck in a limbo due to censor-related issues and legal hurdles.

Dhanush, who recently saw the release of Kara, wrote, "My heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Vijay sir and the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam for receiving immense support and love from the people of Tamil Nadu and for forming the government in their very first election they contested."

Samantha, who has acted alongside Vijay in Theri, shared a photo of him and expressed her pride on his victory. She wrote how she "always knew" that he was "chosen". "Can't think of a more glorious way to rewrite history. Always knew you were chosen Vijay sir. This was always your dream, always who you were meant to be. So proud it's you," she added, on her Instagram story.

Malayalam star Mohanlal, with whom Vijay has shared screen space in Jilla, hoped that the TVK chief will wear people's trust with "pride and purpose".

AR Rahman too joined in to wish Vijay. He said, "Wishing you to rise and flourish as an exemplary leader who will take Tamil Nadu to the forefront, championing corruption-free politics, social justice, and equality."

Earlier, Rajinikanth had congratulated Vijay for his "resounding victory" in the elections. Kamal Haasan too penned a note for earning people's trust and achieving in their first election. "My best wishes for their public service to flourish," he said.

Suriya wished him for "beginning a new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics" and said that the state has "great faith" in his "friend" Vijay.

Vijay entered politics with much fanfare when he launched his party in 2024. They contested in the elections without being a part of a coalition. Although TVK emerged as the single largest party, winning 108 seats in the assembly elections, the party fell short of the magic number—the halfway mark in the 234-member house. The party is currently looking for post-poll allies to form the government.
