As the counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections comes to a close, actor Rajinikanth has congratulated Vijay, on the latter's victory. Actor Vijay contested from the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies in the elections.
Taking to his X handle, Rajinikanth wrote, "My congratulations to Thiru Vijay, President of the victorious Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and to the members of his party, on their resounding victory in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections."
Previously, film personalities like Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Vikram, Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Kajal Aggarwal, Jiiva, and more conveyed their wishes for Vijay.
In 2023, Vijay announced his foray into politics, and announced that he would be contesting under his then newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Subsequently, his upcoming film Jana Nayagan, which is directed by H Vinoth is set to be his final film release, before his retirement for a career in politics. The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju, among others.
