Dhanush has a number of films in his pipeline in Tamil as well as Hindi. The busy actor has now reportedly added a new film with director Siva, according to sources.

Up next for Dhanush is D55, helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy which will also star Mammooty, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi. The production for the film is ongoing. Later, he is set to reunite with Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for a film which will feature music by AR Rahman. He will also be working with Lubber Pandhu director Thamizharasan Pachamuthu on a film. Also in his pipeline are his Ilaiyaraaja and APJ Abdul Kalam biopics—the production development details of which are scanty. Sardar director PS Mithran is also in talks to helm a film with the actor which is set to be a Bollywood project, backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bhansali Productions banner.

According to DT Next, Dhanush has now heard a rural-based script from director Siva which seems to have impressed him.

A source revealed to the publication that Siva was asked to hold the story by the actor who informed him that he would complete the current set of commitments before coming back to his project. Dhanush has reportedly given him dates from January 2027.

The film is likely to be backed by Mythri Movie Makers with the cast and other details kept under wraps.

Dhanush was last seen in Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja. The heist thriller has also been written Alfred Prakash along with the director, and follows Dhanush aka Karasaami (a) Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991 which leads to a fuel crises in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance. The film released in theatres amid much-anticipation on April 30 but received mixed reviews. It underperformed at the box office, earning only around Rs 41 crore worldwide.
