As per speculations, Sardar director PS Mithran is in talks to helm Dhanush's next film. A Bollywood film, the multi-hyphenated actor is reportedly set to join hands with Sanjay Leela Bhansali under his Bhansali Productions banner. The film is being described as a drama set in the jungle and based on mythology.
If talks materialise, PS Mithran, who has previously made Irumbu Thirai and Hero apart from Sardar, will be making his Hindi film debut and will also mark his first collaboration with Dhanush. Previously, the filmmaker was set to work with the production banner on Rowdy Rathore 2, but the film didn't take shape.
In Hindi, Dhanush was recently seen in Tere Ishk Mein, his third film with his frequent Bollywood collaborator, Aanand L Rai. He previously worked with the filmmaker on Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. Apart from the hattrick films with Rai, Dhanush has also acted in Shamitabh in Hindi, alongside Amitabh Bachchan. If reports are to be believed, this upcoming film will mark a genre trajectory shift for the actor in Hindi cinema.
Set to be seen in Vignesh Raja's Kara in two days, Dhanush has a number of films in his pipeline. Up next is D55, set to be helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy and will also star Mammooty, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi. He is set to reunite with Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for a film which will feature music by AR Rahman. He will also be working with Lubber Pandhu director Thamizharasan Pachamuthu on a film. Also in his pipeline are his Ilaiyaraaja and APJ Abdul Kalam biopics—the production development details of which are scanty.
Bhansali recently produced Do Deewane Seher Mein starring Mrunal Thakur and Siddhant Chaturvedi. On the directorial front, he is working on Love and War, starring Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in lead roles. He last helmed Gangubai Kathiawadi for the silver screen and Heeramandi for television.
PS Mithran's Sardar 2 has been in development for quite some time now. The sequel to Karthi's Sardar, the film sees him reprise his roles along with Rajisha Vijayan, while SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, and Ashika Ranganath are newly cast in the film.
