Actor Indrans, who has been rediscovered by the Tamil cinema audience due to his latest performance in Suriya's Karuppu, may already be signing his next Tamil film. The veteran actor, who previously did supporting roles in Nanban and Aadum Koothu, in Tamil, may be joining the sets of D55 soon.
For the unversed, D55 refers to Dhanush's 55th film, which is helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy. The film also stars Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela in prominent roles. Filming for the same is progressing at a brisk pace.
In a recent interview with Cineulagam, when Indrans was asked about his upcoming projects, especially in Tamil, he said, "Rajkumar Periasamy has called for his next – Dhanush's film, D55. However, I am yet to commence shooting." From his statement, it looks like the team is yet to finalise the actor's casting.
Sai Pallavi is uniting with Dhanush for the second time after Maari 2 (2018) and the director after their hit collaboration in Amaran. Sreeleela will be working on her sophomore project in Tamil after the recent Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi. Meanwhile, Mammootty is making his comeback to Tamil cinema seven years after director Ram's critically-acclaimed drama Peranbu (2019).
While plot details of D55 are currently unknown, the director had previously revealed, "My previous film was about a hero, a gallantry award recipient (Amaran). My next is about many unsung heroes who blend in within society. The protagonist will represent one such hero." Details regarding the rest of the cast members, the plot and a tentative release date have been kept under wraps.
D55 will be backed by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, in association with RTake Studios. Sai Abhyankkar is the music composer of the film.
In Malayalam, Indrans was last seen in the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer, Patriot. He has Chinna Chinna Aasai and Khalifa: The Intro in the pipeline.
