With the makers of Silambarasan's Arasan eyeing a Deepavali release, the production of the Vetri Maaran directorial has been ongoing at a brisk pace. We had also recently also reported that a massive set was going to be erected in Chennai's ECR for its shoot. The lead actor has now shared an update on his Instagram story, revealing details on the nature of filming.
"More than two months of continuous night shoots. My circadian rhythm is officially confused," he wrote, hinting at the intensity of the production. With Silambarasan's post, it can be deduced that Arasan might have many scenes set at night, some of which were shown in its first glimpse released last year. It showed a young, street-smart version alongside an older, greying gangster facing trial for multiple murders.
While it has been confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi is set to play a cop, Andrea Jeremiah and Samuthirakani are reprising their roles from the Vada Chennai universe playing their iconic characters Chandra and Guna. Tourist Family-fame Yogalakshmi, who also plays a key role in the film, had recently confirmed her casting as Silambarasan's love interest during an awards show. Kishore is also expected to mark his return in Arasan. Additionally, Yogi Babu and Jibin Gopinath will play pivotal roles in the film.
Although they exist in the same universe, Dhanush's character Anbu is not a part of Arasan. The film's screenplay is an iteration of the one the filmmaker had written for Vada Chennai when Silambarasan was in line to star in it.
While plot details are currently under wraps, the makers describe it as “an untold tale from the world of Vada Chennai".
Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the film under his V Creations banner. It brings composer-singer Anirudh together with Silambarasan and director Vetri Maaran for the first time. The makers of Arasan are aiming for a theatrical release on Deepavali.
