After producer Kalaipuli S Thanu decided to postpone the re-release of Vijay's Theri on January 23 to give way for smaller films like Hot Spot 2 Much and Draupathi 2, the makers of the latter paid a visit to the veteran producer, extending their heartfelt gratitude to him for his support.
Director Mohan G had previously requested producer Kalaipuli S Thanu via X to change the release date of actor Vijay’s film Theri. Accepting the request, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu announced that the release of Theri would be postponed to another date. He also stated that the new release date would be announced later on Monday.
Following this, Mohan G met with producer Thanu and shared the news on X. He wrote, "We, the team behind Draupathi 2, and producer Sola Shakkaravarthi, extend our heartfelt gratitude to producer Kalaipuli S Thanu for paying heed to our request and postponing the re-release of Vijay's Theri."
Following the postponement of Jana Nayagan's release, the re-release of Theri was planned, also coinciding with the re-release of Ajith's Mankatha. While Theri is helmed by Atlee, Mankatha is a Venkat Prabhu directorial.
Draupathi 2 stars Richard Rishi, Rakshana Induchoodan, Natty Natraj, Chirag Jani Vela Ramamoorthy, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gourang, Y Gee Mahendran, Barani, Deviyani Sharma, Divi, Saravanan Subbiah and Jayavel, among others.
On the technical front, Draupathi 2 has music composed by Ghibran, cinematography by Philip R Sundar, editing by Devaraj, action choreography by Action Santosh, and art direction by Kamalnathan. Initially planned for a late January release, the film was brought forward to hit theatres for Pongal. However, it has now been rescheduled for January 23.
