Sivakarthikeyan's latest film Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara has knocked off its first milestone by surpassing the Rs 50 crore mark at the global box office. After earning Rs 27 crore on day 1 worldwide (Rs 12.25 crore in India), the film had crossed the current landmark within three days. However, collections for the period drama have been dropping considerably across the first three days as its second day earnings in India registered a 19.20 per cent dip to make Rs 10.15 crore. On day 3, the film's revenue dropped further to make little over Rs 2 crore. Its current countrywide total stands at Rs 25.35 crore.

The dip in collections is attributed to the film receiving mixed reviews upon release on Saturday, January 10 with many praising the lead actors' performances while criticising its screenplay. It is to be noted that the film witnessed troubles even before it hit theatres as it faced the censor's axe and was given 25 cuts. The film only formally received the censor certificate a day ahead of its release on Friday.

Parasakthi also stars Sreeleela in her Tamil debut, Ravi Mohan as the antagonist and Atharvaa in leading roles. The film's extended cast includes Kulappulli Leela, Prakash Belawadi, Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram and Chetan, with cameo appearances from Rana Daggubati and Basil Joseph.

Our CE review of the Parasakthi read, "If the film gets one thing inarguably right, it is how it dismisses the most recurring slander against the movement at the outset: it is not against Hindi or Hindi speakers but against the administrative imposition of the language. We hear it repeated more than thrice throughout various points in the film. Director Sudha Kongara takes great pains to make sure that the film does not villanise any language or community. A commendable task. If only a fraction of that effort and nuance also went into portraying the inner world of those who fought for language rights, Parasakthi would have been impactful.

Sudha has written the film along with Arjun Nadesan, with an additional screenplay by Ganeshaa and dialogues by Madhan Karky and Shan Karuppusamy. The crew of the film includes GV Prakash as the music composer, Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer and Sathish Surya as the editor. Aakash Baskaran has produced the film under his Dawn Pictures banner.

Dev Ramnath has served as the creative producer, along with MP Senthel and Rhea Kongara, who are the executive producers of the film. Red Giant Movies has distributing the film.
