Suriya's latest film Karuppu is continuing to knock every milestone on its way. After ten days in theatres, the RJ Balaji directorial is continuing to set cash registers ringing and has officially crossed over Rs 130 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, becoming the 22nd film in history to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the state, ending a drought in the state that had lasted since August 2025. It is also the first in Suriya's career to cross the landmark in the state. The action drama is nearing the Rs 180 crore mark across India in its gross collections. Overseas, the film is nearing the Rs 250 crore landmark
By achieving these numbers, Karuppu has broken several records as it ended a long dry spell in the state, becoming a commercial success at the box office worldwide. The film just took just four days to surpass the 13-year-old lifetime record of Singam 2, officially becoming the highest-grossing film in Suriya's career. It also surpassed biggies like Mersal, Petta, and Thunivu to reach the Rs 200 crore global milestone in just 8 days. That's not all. The film is also currently Suriya's highest-grossing movie in Kerala.
With the trend continuing, Karuppu is expected to add in more box office numbers for the next two weeks.
In Karuppu, Suriya stars as the titular guardian deity, who assumes the form of a lawyer after a devotee in distress, pleads for justice.
The cast of the film also includes Trisha, Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Natty Natraj, among others. RJ Balaji, who has written as well as directed the film, portrays the antagonist, Baby Kannan.
