Director Sudha Kongara expressed her happiness for the first audience's response for her film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, among others. The filmmaker spoke to the media right after a screening earlier today. She said that the fact that one of her Tamil films has gotten a theatrical release for the first time in the last ten years itself makes her happy. Her last two theatrical releases are Irudhi Suttru (2016), starring R Madhavan and Ritika Singh, and its Telugu remake Guru (2017), featuring Venkatesh and Ritika herself. While Sudha Kongara's film Sarfira, starring Akshay Kumar, hit theatres in 2024, it is still a remake of her own Soorarai Pottru, featuring Suriya.

The Parasakthi director also said that the film has been getting a response from audiences that is better than what she anticipated. "I feel happy when everyone, from a fourth standard student to a collegegoer, respond to the film," Sudha said about the audience response for the film. Notably, the film is set in the 1960s and its plot revolves around the protest against Hindi imposition.

As the filmmaker was about to leave, she was asked about the exorbitant number of cuts that the makers have applied to the film, in accordance with the Censor Board's instructions. "I am OK with it," she said, referring to the 25 cuts that have been made to the film. The filmmaker added that, except for the fact that the U/A certificate came a day ahead of its release, "the Censor Board is just doing their job."

Interestingly, the filmmaker's comments come even as the Vijay starrer Jana Nayagan's makers face a delay in its release due to censorship hassles.
