Although it has been more than a year since we saw Shriya Saran on the big screen in the Telugu film Mirai, the actor has been in the news due to the release of Awarapan 2. While she is not a part of the Emraan Hashmi sequel, the follow-up has audiences and netizens discussing her role in the original.
On Monday, she made headlines again by sharing an unexpected selfie on her Instagram stories, sparking a reunion with her co-star. The selfie is with none other than Rajinikanth, clicked either at the airport or on a flight. Rajinikanth is interestingly seen in his Dharman look. Shriya wrote "Happy Day" while sharing the selfie on her Instagram.
The photo marks Shriya's reunion with Rajinikanth 19 years after Sivaji: The Boss. The duo starred as the lead pair in Shankar's blockbuster directorial. Reportedly, Shriya will be seen making a cameo appearance in Dharman. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm the same.
On the work front, Shriya was last seen in the show Space Gen: Chandrayaan earlier this year. Up next, she is gearing up for the release of Drishyam 3, which is scheduled for October 2. She also has Sandakkari in the pipeline and has made a special appearance in a song in Non Violence.
Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is all set for the release of Jailer 2, scheduled for October 15. The first single from the Nelson directorial, 'Ala Bolelo', was recently unveiled. At present, he is shooting for Dharman, helmed by Ashwath Marimuthu. Also starring Simran and Raashi Khanna, the film is backed by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, marking their reunion after more than four decades. They will be reuniting once again after this for KHxRK reunion, helmed by Nelson.
