Shriya Saran, who shared the screen with Vijay in Azhagiya Tamil Magan, has expressed her reasoning on why the actor-turned-politician deserves his win in the recent Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections. Speaking to NDTV, Shriya recalled an experience she had with Vijay on set that made her admire his character.
Speaking about the victory, she said, "The people in Tamil Nadu have been following his journey, and they know all the hard work he's been doing over the years. Irrespective of that, they love him for his movies, obviously. It is also because of the kind of persona he has created."
Shriya then recalled a behind-the-scenes moment from a shooting spot that defines Vijay's character. "Let me give you a small story. We were shooting once, and it was really hot. It was like 45 degrees in April, and you could not stand outside. People had come to the set to take pictures with him. This man stepped out of his van and stood patiently so people could take those photos one by one. That's the kind of love he gives back to the people who come to get a glimpse of him. He always makes them feel special."
Shriya also called Vijay a "great orator" and said, "When he speaks, the way he talks and the way he moves his eyes exudes a certain charisma that is like a superpower for him." Lastly, she said that even if the people trusted him for his charisma, he would keep his promise. "It makes you believe in him, and rightly so. He will bring that change that he has promised."
Last seen in the Telugu movie Mirai, Shriya has Drishyam 3 with Ajay Devgn and in the pipeline. She will also be seen in a dance number in Non-Violence. On the other hand, Vijay is still awaiting the release of Jana Nayagan, which was recently leaked online a month ago. The film's release is still in limbo, as the Censor Board for Film Certification is yet to provide a censor certificate for the film. With the results scheduled for today, the censor certificate is expected to be provided soon.
