Rio Raj's Ram is rejected by many to-be-brides, making him frustrated until he meets his dream girl, who comes with an unexpected twist in the trailer of Ram in Leela. The film's trailer was unveiled by director Lokesh Kanagaraj on Wednesday.
The trailer shows Ram lamenting about being rejected by multiple brides, as it cuts to scenes from various ponnu pakura functions with Ram facing multiple conditions for marriage. When he is frustrated and almost gives up on marriage, he meets Vartika's Leela in the train and falls for her. She is also in love with him but has one small condition. She will not be able to see him after 6 pm. We also see a friend character who is equally concerned about Ram. The trailer suggests that Ram's male friend transforms into a female, Leela, thereby bringing chaos and confusion in his life. The film promises to be a fun-filled romantic-comedy.
Directed by debutant Ramachandran Kannan, Ram in Leela also stars Balaji Thiyagarajan Dayalan, Munishkanth, Chetan, Deepa Venkat, Malavika Avinash, and Nayana Elza, among others. It marks the acting debut of Vartika.
On the technical team, Ram in Leela has music by Ankit Menon, cinematography by Mallikarjun, and editing by YNC Shiva. The film is backed by R Ravindran and Sudharsan. Trident Arts and Eywa Entertainment are the banners backing the film. The film is scheduled to open in theatres on August 21.
Upon its release, the film will clash with Modha Rathri, starring Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar, at the box office, while Elan's sophomore Pyaar Prema Kalyanam, also starring Saanve Megghanna, is set to premiere on Netflix on the same day. The release is scheduled a week after Suriya's Vishwanath and Sons and Vishal's Magudam.
