At the audio launch of Vishal's directorial debut, Magudam, Vishal gave a lengthy speech, as a question-and-answer session with the event's host, speaking about politics, civil issues, his stance on a few recent moves, and a lot more.

Magudam, also starring Dushara Vijayan and Anjali, will feature Vishal in three roles as an actor, apart from his role behind the scenes as the director. Initially, the film was set to be helmed by Ravi Arasu, who then exited from the project due to creative differences.

Vishal was asked about the politicians criticising actors entering politics. He said, "When politicians act like street performers, why can’t street performers become politicians?" Then, the actor went on to address basic civic issues. "Diwali will come in November and Pongal in January next year, but in between, in December, there will undoubtedly be floods. I hope T Nagar doesn’t face flooding when that happens. The last time I posted a video about the flooding, asking whether the stormwater drains were built in Singapore or Chennai, it went viral, but the government did not receive it well. I asked that question as a citizen of the country, and I hope we don’t face the same situation this time."

Vishal then took a dig at the roads of Chennai and shockingly revealed switching to bicycles from cars. "First of all, the roads need to improve. I’ve sold all my cars and invested in bicycles. It’s better than having to change the car’s brake and suspension every now and then. I also reach shooting spots faster on a bicycle. It would be great if the roads improved enough for me to switch back to cars,” he said.
