A day after actor-politician Kamal Haasan took to his social media handles to praise Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, he has now shared his experience of watching the movie. He once again hailed the acclaimed director's storytelling while expressing how the film rekindled his own artistic aspirations.

In a heartfelt message, Kamal Haasan described walking out of the theatre with a sense of humility despite being "a child of the great storytelling tool, cinema." Recalling the silence that followed the screening, he wrote that when asked for his thoughts, the only words he could utter were: "Stories make us."

The veteran actor also questioned why the film had been labelled a "leftist movie." Responding philosophically, Kamal wrote, "Is it now left to be right? Valour can be practised, but will comes to very few."

Showering praise on Nolan, Kamal said the filmmaker possesses both the will and the discipline to create works of extraordinary courage. He noted that while many young cinema lovers around him were moved to tears, his own eyes remained dry, not because he was unmoved, but because, as he put it, "life and my little victories in cinema had probably dried them." However, he added that the "wetness" in his mind remained intact, symbolising that his creative spirit continues to thrive.

Kamal also revealed that watching The Odyssey reignited a long-held dream. "I always wanted to be a director of cinema. Now I will strive not to be remembered just as an actor," he wrote, thanking Nolan for inspiring artists, dreamers, and storytellers to awaken their dormant ambitions.

In the concluding part of his note, Kamal appreciated every technician and crew member behind the film. He said he carefully read every name that appeared in the end credits and silently saluted each one.

The film, which has currently grossed over $700 million worldwide, is based on Greek king Odysseus' (Matt Damon) long and ardous 10-year-long journey after the Trojan war to reunite with his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland). 

The star-studded cast also features Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, among others.
