Following the release of Dhanush's Kara on Thursday, audiences have been sharing their reviews of the Vignesh Raja directorial on social media. While reviews for the film have been mixed, netizens have unanimously praised the film's music, composed by GV Prakash.
Kara, Dhanush's 54th outing, also stars Mamitha Baiju, Suraj Venjaramoodu, KS Ravikumar, Karunaas, MS Bhaskar, Sreeja Ravi and Prithvi Pandiaraj, among others. The film has been written by Vignesh Raja as well as Alfred Prakash.
The music composer and actor has now taken to X to express his gratitude for the compliments. He wrote, "Kara is getting amazing reviews … Thanks for the amazing response for the music and soundscape and BGScore … it’s a film-orientated score which takes off in the theatre with the visuals and film. And finally, the day has come to witness the real magic of the score in theatres with the visuals …. Thank you all for the amazing response for the music again." (sic)
GV Prakash has collaborated many times with Dhanush, some of which include Polladhavan (2007), Aadukalam (2011), Mayakkam Enna (2011), Asuran (2019), Maaran (2022), Vaathi (2023), and Captain Miller (2024), Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam (2025) and Idli Kadai (2025).
Kara has Dhanush playing Karasaami, aka Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991, which leads to a fuel crisis in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance.
Kara is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner alongside Kushmitha Ganesh. On the technical front, the film also has cinematography by Theni Eswar, editing by Sreejith Sarang, art direction by Mayapandi, and stunt direction by Dinesh Kasi.
Meanwhile, GV Prakash was last seen in Happy Raj, which recently had its post-theatrical OTT premiere on Prime Video. On the acting front, he has a number of films in the pipeline including, Mental Manadhil, Immortal, Aayiram Jenmangal, 4G, and Kadhalikka Yarumillai, among others. As a music composer, some of his upcoming projects are Vishwanath & Sons, Magudam, Mandaadi and DQ41.
