While a lot of netizens have reviewed only the first half, calling the interval block "banger", some others have penned their thoughts after watching the entire film. While reviews are still coming up, many have described the second half as middling when compared to the first half.

While these are only initial reviews from netizens, a review of the film from CE's critics and other general audiences is awaited. Kara is backed by Ishari Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner. The film has been written by Vignesh Raja as well as Alfred Prakash. It has Dhanush playing Karasaami, aka Kara, a robber during the Gulf War of 1991, which leads to a fuel crisis in Tamil Nadu, forcing him to battle for his sustenance.
