After a successful outing with Kadaikutty Singam in 2018, Karthi is reportedly joining hands once again with director Pandiraaj for a new film. Sources also indicate that the upcoming film will be backed by Suriya under his 2D Entertainment banner.

While an official news is awaited, the buzz has gone viral on social media, with fans expressing their excitement for the project.

Kadaikutty Singam garnered positive reviews and bagged three Tamil Nadu State Awards. A family drama, it also starred Sayyeshaa, Sathyaraj, Soori, Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Arthana Binu and Priya Bhavani Shankar in key roles. Interestingly, that film was also produced by Suriya.

For the unversed, Suriya has also backed a few of Karthi's films including Meiyazhagan (2024) and Viruman (2022), besides Kadaikutty Singam.

Last seen in Nalan Kumarasamy's Vaa Vaathiyaar, which released earlier this year, Karthi is awaiting the release of the long-delayed Sardar 2, helmed by PS Mithran. It also stars Malavika Mohanan, SJ Suryah, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal roles. A release date is yet to be announced. He is also filming director Tamizh's period action drama Marshal. The film, also starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, and Lal, is eyeing a Diwali release.

Suriya, on the other hand, is awaiting Karuppu's release which hits theatres on May 14. He also has Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, that is locked for a July release. His 47th film is being helmed by Jithu Madhavan and went on floors in December last year.

Pandiraaj last directed Thalaivan Thalaivii with Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, which released last year. He is currently working on a comedy film with Jayaram and Urvashi, which reunites the powerhouse performers after 20 years on the big screen.
