Even as Suriya is busy filming for Suriya 47, fresh updates have emerged about the upcoming film. Director Jithu Madhavan recently shared a brief but intriguing note about the action-comedy, putting to rest speculation about its tone and language identity.
Speaking to the media at an airport, Jithu clarified that the film will firmly cater to Tamil audiences. When asked whether the project would carry a Malayalam flavour, he reportedly responded, “The shoot for Suriya 47 is ongoing, and updates will be made officially. It will be a proper Tamil film.”
The yet-untitled entertainer is said to feature Suriya in the role of an unconventional police officer heading a squad that mirrors his eccentric personality. Their world reportedly spirals into chaos when they are entrusted with a high-stakes case that demands seriousness, a stark contrast to their usual ways.
The film pairs Suriya with Nazriya as the female lead, while Naslen is expected to appear in a significant role. Adding to the excitement, composer Sushin Shyam will be making his Tamil debut with this project.
During the same interaction, the filmmaker was also quizzed about the possibility of a sequel to Aavesham, which starred Fahadh Faasil in the lead. However, Jithu maintained that there is no official confirmation yet and that discussions are still at a preliminary stage.
Meanwhile, Suriya’s immediate release will be Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. The fantasy action drama features Trisha Krishnan as the co-lead and reportedly follows the story of a lawyer who becomes possessed by a divine force and takes on injustice. The ensemble cast includes Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada and Anagha Maya Ravi. While the makers are yet to lock a release date, the film is expected to arrive in theatres in April 2026.
Looking further ahead, Suriya also has a project with Venky Atluri, tentatively referred to as Suriya 46. The film stars Mamitha Baiju and Raveena Tandon in prominent roles and is likely to hit screens after Karuppu.
