Actor Madhavan is the latest to have commented on the raging issue of Jana Nayagan's leak online. Calling the incident deeply "heartbreaking and troubling", he questioned how people are getting away after committing the crime. Reiterating words from other celebrities, he urged people to respect the hard work of all people involved in making the film and avoid watching it on pirated platforms.

Previously, major names in the industry including RajinikanthKamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, Sivakarthikeyan, Khushbu Sundar, directors Sundar C, Karthik Subbaraj, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Mari Selvaraj, RJ Balaji and Rajkumar Periasamy, producers Kalaipuli S Thanu, Archana and Aishwarya Kalpathi, GV Prakash, Vijay Antony, Shanthnu, Sibi Sathyaraj and many others had raised their concern on the perils of piracy and urged people to respect filmmakers and cinema. The Tamil Film Producers Council as well as Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI) too condemned the act.

A word from Vijay or H Vinoth is awaited on the same. Meanwhile, six members have reportedly been arrested by the Chennai Cyber Crime police and investigations are currently ongoing. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) had recently dismissed the rumour of them "deliberately" leaking footage from Jana Nayagan to tarnish Vijay's reputation ahead of the state assembly elections. "CBFC has clarified that it follows a secure KDM (Key Delivery Message) system for all theatrical films submitted for certification. Access to the content is password-protected, and the KDM remains solely with the producer/filmmaker," they clarified.

Directed by H Vinoth and starring Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in key roles, the actioner was set for release in theatres during the Pongal festival in January. However, it faced major delays and legal hurdles due to censor certificate-related issues and continues to remain in the cans with a release date yet to be announced by the makers.
