Days after the entirety of Vijay's Jana Nayagan was found to be leaked online, six people have been arrested, on Sunday. According to Sun News, Chennai Cyber Crime police have arrested the concerned people, with investigations being conducted.
Late on April 9, a portion of the film was found to be leaked online. Later, it was discovered that the entire film was leaked. Film personalities across Tamil and Telugu film fraternities expressed their support for Jana Nayagan's makers, and condemned the actions of the perpetrators.
While online discourse accused the Central Board of Film Certification of leaking the footage, the Press Information Bureau disputed these rumours. Taking to X, they wrote, "CBFC has clarified that it follows a secure KDM (Key Delivery Message) system for all theatrical films submitted for certification. Access to the content is password-protected, and the KDM remains solely with the producer/filmmaker. Without a valid KDM, the film cannot be accessed or viewed. The DCP (Digital Cinema Package) of Jana Nayagan was handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on 17 March with due acknowledgement, and has remained with them since."
Written and directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is Vijay's last film, before he retires from films, for politics. The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol, among others.
