Kamal Haasan receives Golden Beaver Award at Indian Film Festival of Alberta

Earlier, Kamal Haasan addressed the audience at the Indian Film Festival of Alberta, Canada, and also met the mayor of Edmonton

Recently, we reported that actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is in Canada attending the Indian Film Festival of Alberta. On Sunday, the Thug Life actor was awarded the first Golden Beaver Award by the organisers of the film festival. Sharing photos of the award ceremony on their official Instagram handle, they described the award as "a symbol of creativity and resilience".

The organisers further explained the significance of the award, writing, "Inspired by Canada’s national animal, the beaver, this award honours visionaries who reshape their world with determination and artistic brilliance. Just as the beaver transforms its environment, these recipients have transformed cinema — bridging cultures, breaking barriers, and inspiring audiences worldwide." Kamal Haasan received the award from Mr Madhan Selvaraj, Executive Director of IFFA, and Mr Masakui Rungsung, Consul General of India.

Previously, the official Instagram handle of the Indian Film Festival of Alberta also shared photos of the Vikram actor addressing the audience there. As per the official handle, Kamal Haasan is paying a visit to Canada after 28 years. While Kamal Haasan was initially set to attend the festival in the first week of September, his visit was later postponed to September 18, as he was held with political commitments. Actor Sivakarthikeyan and director Rajkumar Periasamy were also among the guests who attended the film festival.

On the work front,Kamal Haasanwas last seen in Mani Ratnam'sThug Life. He is working on his next, helmed by stunt choreographer Anbariv, tentatively titledKH 237. He also has Indian 3 and Kalki 2 in the pipeline.
