With less than a month left for the release of Jana Nayagan, the anticipation for the film is at an all-time high. Even as the makers are gearing up for the film's audio launch in Malaysia on December 27, reports about the film's run-time have surfaced. As per speculations, the H Vinoth directorial is set to run for 3 hours and 6 minutes, making it Vijay's second-longest film after Shankar's Nanban, which ran for 3 hours and 8 minutes. However, the official announcement from the makers is awaited.

Some reports have also mentioned details about the film's plot. As per those reports, Jana Nayagan will supposedly revolve around two formidable figures — one who fights for his people and another who thrives on power and control. “Their paths crossed once in the past. Years later, a child’s unspoken fear rekindles old wounds, pulling a former police officer into a conflict far greater than personal vengeance,” the report noted. There is also a long-standing speculation that the film might be a remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari.

Jana Nayagan is said to revolve around Vijay’s role as a police officer, with Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol essaying pivotal roles. The ensemble cast further features Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and others. Interestingly, speculation is also rife about cameo appearances by directors Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar, and Lokesh Kanagaraj, though nothing has been confirmed.

The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana under the KVN Productions banner and co-produced by Jagadish Palanisamy and Lohith NK. Jana Nayagan is set to have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, camera work by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.

As Jana Nayagan prepares for its Pongal 2026 release, it is set for a clash at the box office with Sivakarthikeyan’s period drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, which hits screens on January 14, 2026.
