Filmmaker Abhinav Sunder Nayak on Monday shared a heartfelt note expressing gratitude for the response to his latest film Mollywood Times, headlined by Naslen, which released in theatres on June 5. The post was accompanied by a carousel of behind-the-scenes photographs from the making of the film. Reflecting on the film's journey, Abhinav wrote, "Mollywood Times has been out since June 5th, and all I feel is a sense of calm. This is a story that needed to be told — I would have suffocated otherwise."

The filmmaker, who also co-edited the film, thanked lead actor Naslen for his performance as aspiring filmmaker Vineeth Madhavan. "Thank you, Naslen, for breathing life into Vineeth Madhavan," he wrote. Abhinav further expressed confidence that the film would reward repeat viewings. "For everyone who liked the film, I promise you'll like it even more on a second watch. This film grows on you. And it's special AF," he added.

Written by Ramu Sunil and produced by Ashiq Usman, Mollywood Times stars Naslen as an aspiring filmmaker determined to make the greatest horror film in Malayalam cinema. The cast also includes Sharaf U Dheen and Sangeeth Prathap in prominent roles. The film marks editor-turned-filmmaker Abhinav's return to directing after the acclaimed Mukundan Unni Associates and has been drawing attention for its unconventional narrative and sharp commentary on ambition, success and the film industry.

According to the makers, Mollywood Times has grossed Rs 8.45 crore worldwide in its first two days and continues to run successfully in theatres.

An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "Even when it becomes messy and overindulgent, it remains undeniably sincere. In the end, Mollywood Times may not be as sharp or tightly controlled as Mukundan Unni Associates, but it is bold, provocative and frequently compelling, finding horror not in ghosts but in the price of success."
