After his breakout debut Mukundan Unni Associates, director Abhinav Sunder Nayak is coming back with another film, titled Mollywood Times, starring Naslen as a wannabe horror film maker. Ahead of the film's release, Abhinav talked about his directorial inspirations.

Speaking to Fully Filmy, Abhinav said that Vinayan is one of the directors who inspired him while he was a child. "He made a movie called Aakasha Ganga; it is still legendary. I still watch it. I think it is a very well made horror film," said the Mollywood Times director.

The filmmaker added that Vinayan served as an inspiration for him in his growing-up years as the latter's films were technically good for their time. "Aakasha Ganga did not have DTS. It was too early for DTS to come. I think he used to bring in new special effects and DTS. So while growing up, these things used to fascinate me," the filmmaker said about Vinayan and his films.

Abhinav Sunder Nayak also cited Vinayan's Vellinakshatram and Albhutha Dweep for the use of special effects and new sound effects in these films. "These films were known for trying out something new and fascinated me when I was a child," the director said. He noticed that the aforementioned films may not be something extraordinary in today's times, but they tried out new things back in the day.

The filmmaker's comments about Vinayan come not long after the latter announced a new fantasy film, which is set to mark his comeback after 2022's period film Pathonpatham Noottandu.

Coming back to Mollywood Times, the upcoming film also stars Sangeeth Prathap, Sharaf U Dheen, Prashanth Alexander, Rajesh Madhavan, and Chandu Salimkumar, among others. The film is slated to hit theatres on June 05, Friday.
