Veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has praised Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par as it saw a huge jump in its collections over the weekend. The film, which opened at Rs 10.7 crore on Friday, raked-in Rs 20.2 crore on Friday and Rs 27.25 crore on Sunday, as per Sacnilk.

Reacting to this, Javed wrote on X, “So happy to learn about the record leap that Sitaare Zameen Par has taken at the box office on the second day. Who says good films have no takers in the audience. Congratulations to Aamir Khan and his team.”

Taking to social media on Sunday, Aamir Khan Productions wrote a short note about the film’s jump in collections on second-day. They wrote, “We are overwhelmed and deeply grateful for the love pouring in. The film was made faith and you’ve made it historic. Thank you believing in the magic of cinema.”

Sitaare Zameen Par has been directed by RS Prasanna. It also features Genelia Deshmukh and Dolly Ahluwalia. The film had mixed reception from the critics. Our review of the film read: “Sitaare Zameen Par has its heart in the right place but it often wears it on its sleeve. It becomes didactic, spelling out lessons to the viewer rather than letting them make a journey of their own. It is too eager to reverberate with the masses, so desperate for a group hug that it often overlooks the intimacy of just holding hands.”
