M Night Shyamalan's upcoming film Remain, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor, has moved the release date to February 7, 2027. The supernatural love story was earlier set for a October 23, 2026 release.
Warner Bros has taken the decision to capitalise on the Valentine's Day collections. Remain is based on the eponymous novel from best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, which he co-wrote with Shyamalan.
The synopsis for the book, which will hit stands on October this year, reads, "New York architect Tate Donovan heads to Cape Cod to design a summer home for his best friend, seeking a fresh start after being treated for acute depression. Still mourning his sister’s death, he meets Wren, a young woman who disrupts his carefully ordered world."
Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, Jay O Sanders, Tracy Ifeachor, Hannah James, Caleb Ruminer, Kieran Mulcare and Maria Dizzia are also part of the cast in key roles besides Gyllenhaal and Dynevor.
Remain marks Shyamalan's second collaboration with Warner Bros after the studio released Josh Hartnett's Trap last year. Warners also released Ishana Night Shyamalan’s The Watchers.
Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan will produce the film through Blinding Edge Pictures, alongside Sparks’ long-time producing partner Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. Sparks will serve as executive producer. Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures will produce the film.
