Jake Gyllenhaal is attached to star in a film titled Kill Switch, reports Deadline. Netflix has acquired the rights to stream the film, the screenplay for which is written by Harrison Query. Not much is known about the film's plot. Reportedly, in terms of plot, it lies somewhere between Michael Mann's Collateral, starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx, and Denis Villeneuve's Sicario, starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin.
Matt Reeves is set to produce the film under his 6th and Idaho banner with Lynn Harris, alongside Gyllenhaal and Josh McLauglin’s banner Nine Stories and Scott Glassgold's 12:01 Films. On the other hand, Query is set to serve as an executive producer on the film.
Recently, Amazon MGM Studios acquired the rights for a film adaptation of Query's short story Code Black, with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star in it and with 6th and Idaho, 12:01 aboard and Nine Stories onboard as its producers. In December last year, Netflix also acquired Query's speculative script for The Operator, with Mark Wahlberg tapped to feature in it as an actor and as a producer.
Kill Switch continues Gyllenhaal's association with the streaming space after his first major role in a web series, with Presumed Innocent at Apple TV. It is among the most-watched drama series ever in the history of Apple TV. Apple has renewed the series for a second season, with Gyllenhaal set to reprise his role as an executive producer. The actor's upcoming works also include Road House 2 with director Ilya Naishuller, his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride!, and M Night Shayamaln's supernatural thriller Remain.
