Marvel Studios appears to have reignited the spark with Fantastic Four: First Steps, if the early reactions are anything to go by. Ahead of its theatrical release on July 25, the first screenings of the much-anticipated Phase 6 opener have prompted glowing responses from fans, many of whom are calling it one of Marvel’s strongest efforts to date.

“Quite possibly the best Marvel Studios film ever released,” one viewer wrote on X. “Absolutely loaded with talent and standout performances from Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn. If you thought the MCU died with Endgame, think again.”

Directed by Matt Shakman, First Steps stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Julia Garner. Fans were quick to praise the cast’s chemistry, with Pedro Pascal’s performance receiving particular acclaim for adding depth to what might have otherwise been a straightforward superhero film. “A pitch-perfect script backed by great performances—particularly from Pedro Pascal—turns what could be a simple superhero movie into a sharp commentary on our society,” wrote one viewer.

The film’s visuals are also being lauded, with multiple reactions highlighting the cosmic scale and polished execution. “Fantastic Four: First Steps is visually one of the best things Marvel has ever made,” said one fan, who likened certain moments to Interstellar and insisted the film “demands IMAX.” Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal) and the design of Galactus drew special attention, with many describing the VFX as “immaculate” and the entire experience as a “visual feast.”

Beyond the spectacle, some praised the film’s thematic richness and timely commentary. Viewers noted that the story balances superhero thrills with resonant political and social layers, making it more than just another MCU installment.

With Marvel looking to bounce back from a string of underwhelming box office returns, the early buzz for Fantastic Four: First Steps is promising. Following the massive opening of James Gunn’s Superman, Marvel’s latest is currently tracking a $100–110 million domestic debut—a solid start that could mark a much-needed course correction for the studio.
