Earlier this Wednesday, actor and Andhra Pradesh deputy CM Pawan Kalyan shared his thoughts about the death of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja. While the late filmmaker is known mainly for his work in Tamil cinema, his home turf, Pawan highlighted his cross-industry impact. Describing his passing as "an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry," Pawan Kalyan wrote, "With his extraordinary films, he not only won the hearts of Tamil cinema audiences but also those of Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada language viewers. Having received 6 National Awards, he left his unique imprint on the Indian film scene."
The deputy CM-actor highlighted Bharathiraja's Telugu films Aradhana, starring Chiranjeevi, and Seethakoka Chiluka (which won a National Award for best film in the language). According to him, these films "have remained eternally etched in the hearts of audiences." Pawan also highlighted the filmmaker's skill in exploring rural life and human relationships in his films. He ended his note by sharing his condolences to Bharathiraja's family and fans.
On the other hand, Chiranjeevi shared called him one of the "greatest storytellers" of Indian cinema. He added, "He transformed the fragrance of village soil, the beauty of human relationships, the innocence of love, and the emotions of ordinary people into timeless cinematic poetry. His films touched millions of hearts and inspired generations of filmmakers. A recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri and several National Film Awards, Bharathiraja garu’s contribution to Indian cinema is immeasurable."
The actor said that it was his good fortune to star in the director's film Aradhana. Chiranjeevi went on to add, "His passion for cinema, simplicity and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on me. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on forever through his remarkable films. Rest in peace, “Iyakkunar Imayam” Bharathiraja garu. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers."
