The makers of Andhra King Taluka, the latest Ram Pothineni starrer had surprised film-goers by deciding to release a day early on Thursday. After collecting Rs 4.15 crore on day 1, the film dropped a little on Friday. However, going by the Saturday collections, there’s a good sign ahead for the makers.

According to a report from Sacnilk.com, Andhra King Taluka collected Rs 3.5 crore (nett) on Saturday, showing a 11 percent jump from its Friday figures — which is not staggering, but not trivial either.

In the overseas too, the film has been performing decently, having collected nearly Rs 5 crores. The film’s gross worldwide collections as of Saturday EOD stand approximately between Rs 16-17 crores.

It still remains to be seen whether the film will maintain such momentum on Sunday, and later hold its ground on weekdays, before Akhanda 2 storm arrives on December 5. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 56 crores, the film needs a share of Rs 28 crore or more to reach a break-even figure. Nonetheless, this comes as a respite for Ram Pothineni after a string of failures in past few years, including Double iSmart which was received very poorly at the box office.

In our review for the film, we noted, “Amidst the use of familiar tropes, there is also an impressive self-assuredness to the filmmaking. The early portions might prepare you for a generic melodrama, but Mahesh Babu P defies many conventions known to mainstream Telugu cinema.”

Directed by Mahesh Babu P, Andhra King Taluka also stars Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, and Upendra in an extended cameo. The film was produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
